Dear Waiata Shores whānau,

Our ANPR (Automated Number Plate Recognition) camera surveillance system went live on 17th November 2025.
In partnership with the Conifer Grove Community Camera system, the Waiata Shores Community Camera System will serve all Waiata Shores and Conifer Grove resident subscribers.
The Waiata Shores subscription fee is $40 per annum payable in advance via bank transfer to “Waiata Shores Residents & Ratepayers Assn Inc”.
Your subscription contributes to the upkeep and maintenance of the Waiata Shores Community Camera System keeping our community safe.

The system
The Waiata Shores and Conifer Grove Community Security Camera systems are designed to work together.

Our ‘front door’ is the entry from the Great South Rd. This is monitored by Te Napi and Periko control points. These control points secure Conifer Grove’s  ‘back door’. Conifer Grove’s ‘front door’ – the Walter Strevens bridge control points – will secure our ‘back door’.

The two systems integrate seamlessly to monitor all traffic entering our residential areas. The registration plates of every car entering or leaving Waiata Shores and Conifer Grove are recorded by our ANPR and wide angle cameras.

Waiata Shores and Conifer Grove residents will enjoy a greater sense of security with these new cameras in operation. This should help protect property values in our neighbourhoods. Evidence of subscription may also help reduce some of your insurance costs.

We strongly encourage every WS household to become WSRRA members by filling in the membership form. Membership will allow you to influence the future of the camera project.

The WSRRA committee wishes to thank a number of people and organisations without whose help this project would not have been possible:
* our neighbours, Conifer Grove Residents Association (CGRA) and especially Kelvin Hieatt, CGRA Chair & Papakura Local Board member, and Gerard Joosten for technical advice
* Auckland City Councillor, Daniel Newman for support and encouragement
* Trillian Trust, Wiri Licensing Trust and Fletcher Living for financial support
* Site donors Woolworths, Counties Manukau Medical, Auckland Transport, and Amit Luthra of Songbird Café
* and finally, Alan, Travis, Chloe, Rushad and me. Between us we have committed close to a thousand hours to the project.

Chloe Henri
Chair, Waiata Shores Residents and Ratepayers Association

Common Q and A’s:

I am a subscriber. How do I lodge a request for access to the camera system?

In case you experience any loss / untoward incident in the neighbourhood, you can fill and submit a Lodge Camera Footage Request (see the button above) form with the details of the incident and Police Report Number. One of our volunteer camera operators will be in touch with you. If it’s urgent you may contact the WSRRA secretary (Phone number can be found on the homepage under contact us) or by clicking the Contact us button below.

I am a subscriber. Can I view the camera imagery myself?

No. Only our police-vetted Camera Operators team can view the camera imagery.
Note: Camera imagery may be made available to police investigating complaints.

I am a subscriber. How can I use the camera imagery?

If you suffer from some criminal offence you must first report the incident to the police.
You will receive a report number from the police.
Our police-vetted camera operators team must have received a request and a police report number before they can access the imagery. Request must be lodged via this website by clicking on the blue button above “Click here to lodge camera footage request”.
Note: Camera imagery may be made available to police investigating complaints.

NB: The date at which you subscribed MUST be before the date of the incident occurs. Non-subscribers can ask for this help but there is an $80 fee, which includes a subscription for the remainder of the current year.

Can a non-subscriber access the camera imagery?

Yes, but a police report number is required as for subscribers and a request lodged from the website. The access fee for non-subscribers is $80, which will give coverage for the remainder of the annual period.

Let’s work together to keep our community safe. Your support makes a real difference. Thank you!
