WSRRA and CGRA Partnership

We are nearly there!
We expect installation of the security cameras will be completed by early November.
All vehicles entering and leaving Conifer Grove (west of the motorway) and Waiata Shores will be recorded by plate recognition cameras. These recordings will be  confidential but may be made available to police to assist in their investigation of offences committed in our neighbourhoods.
For many years the only vehicle access to Conifer Grove West was via the Walter Strevens bridge. Likewise, the only way into Waiata Shores was off the Great South Rd via Te Napi Drive. The connection of Brylee Avenue and Gosper Rd was strongly opposed because it opened an unmonitored ‘back door’ to Conifer Grove and reduced the security of both neighbourhoods.
The Conifer Grove Residents Association (CGRA) and the Waiata Shores Residents and Ratepayers (WSRRA) have worked together to fix this problem. The camera operators for both WS and CG systems will have access to all cameras and are working on a technique to more quickly identify a vehicle of interest following a crime or incident.
